1. What is the basic salary if I join the Police Force as a ​Police Officer ?

The entry salaries of our officers depend on their educational qualifications.

Ø A minimum of 2 credits at GCE ‘O’ Level including Bahasa Melayu and English subjects, or  

Ø Pre-National Diploma certificate in a relevant field or any equivalent qualification which is accredited by the Government of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam in an appropriate field, or  

Ø  a higher academic qualification is an advantage.

2. I am keen to join as a Police Officer, how do I apply?

  • Application forms can be download from the Royal Brunei Police Force website at www.police.gov.bn or obtained at the Recruitment Unit, Police Training Centre, Police Headquarters, Gadong.

  • Completed forms for Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and Cadet Inspector should be returned to Head of Training, Department of General Administration and Finance, Royal Brunei Police Headquarters, Gadong.

  • Completed forms for Police Constable and Additional Police Officer should be returned to Recruitment Unit, Police Training Centre, Police Headquarters, Gadong.

  • Serving government officers should submit their applications through their respective Head of Department.

3. What are the minimum physical requirements for joining the Royal Brunei Police Force?

  • Male applicant - Not less than 1.63 metre (5 feet 4 inches) in height and weighs not exceeding 60 kg;

  • Female applicant - Not less than 1.57 metre (5 feet 2 inches) in height and weighs not exceeding 55 kg.

4. What is a certificate of Good Conduct?

​Certificate of Good Conduct is issued to a Brunei national or a permanent resident or any foreign nationals who had previously been employed and had resided in Brunei Darussalam to certify that the named person has no criminal record during his stay in Brunei Darussalam.

5. How can I apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct?

​To apply for a certificate of Good Conduct, the applicant is required to fill in a CRF1 form (which can be downloaded from the RBPF Website or obtained from the Criminal Record Unit Office, Police Headquarters Building, Gadong) along with a copy of the applicant's passport, Identity card, Payment Receipt, Letter on Behalf, Scholarship Letter from Government, NBI Form 5 [Philippines Nationals], FIPS [Singapore Nationals], IIFF [Canadian Nationals], Police 199 [Bruneians].

6. Can I apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct on behalf of others ?

​You can submit an application on behalf of others if you are able to provide all the necessary documents required as above. Submission in person is between 8.30 am to 12.00 noon and 1.30pm to 3.00pm for Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am to 12.00 noon for Saturday.

7. How much do I have to pay?

​The processing fee is B$50.00 (Brunei Dollars Fifty only).

8. Police Permit - Do I need to apply for this permit?

​Any person who wishes to organise or convene a meeting or a procession in a public place shall first (and not less than 7 days from the date of the intended meeting or procession) make an application for a permit in that behalf to the Commissioner of Police – Under Section 9 (1) Public Order Act Cap 148.

9. What are commonly held activities that require a permit?

​The following is a list of commonly held activities that require a permit:   
(a) religious assembly;
(b) festival procession;
(c) religious procession and
(d) public talks.

10. What is punishment for holding an assembly or procession without a permit?

​Any person who takes part in organising, convening or directing any unlawful group; or continues to take part in any unlawful group which has been ordered under section 11(2)(b) of the Public Order Act Cap 148 to disperse, shall be guilty of an offence: Penalty, imprisonment for 3 years and a fine of $5,000.
